MOSCOW, Jan 20 (PRIME) -- Sales of natural gas as engine fuel will increase by 34.7% to 720 million cubic meters (mcm) in 2017, the Energy Ministry said in a statement on Friday.

About 80 projects to develop gas fueling stations network will be implemented this year. About 40 car fuel stations using gas were launched in 2016.

The ministry also said that Russia will use transport running on gas during the 2018 FIFA World Cup -- about 2,000 compressed gas buses will be fueled at 100 stations.
